Gus Heagerty (Director, Producer, Founding Artistic Director: i am a slow tide) is a director, writer, and performer. Using performance and video, i am a slow tide activates alternative pathways for consideration. Taul Katz (Sound Design) is a composer, sound designer, and creative technologist. In 2021 they graduated from California Institute of the Arts where they received a B.A. in music technology. Their pieces range from classical modern composition centering orchestral instruments to experimental sound design that utilizes sonic world building to create emotive and textured narratives. They have written for the Bulgarian Orchestra in Varna, scored interactive installations and built immersive worlds with audio for film and video work. They have collaborated with Alima Lee, Antonio Marziale, Oliver Coates, James William Blades, and scored for brands like Calvin Klein and Dior. Over the past year they have had work at Sundance, The Berlinale, API Fest, Chicago Fillm Fest, Blackstar and many more.
Sam Max (Producer, Founding Company Member: i am a slow tide) is a writer, director, and producer working in performance and film. Their work centers queer characters in “poetic spaces where death and dreams converge, making otherworldly encounters possible” (Suhrkamp Theater Verlag). As an independent Producer under the banner “New Confusion” they focus on the practical development and presentation of contemporary, formally assured performances and films in America and abroad. Their directorial film debut Chaperone, starring Zachary Quinto, premiered at Sundance Film Festival competing for the Grand Jury Prize, won a Jury Special Mention at Palm Springs and Turin Horror, and was shortlisted for the Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes. The film was named one of IndieWire’s 10 Must-See Shorts of Sundance, and has played over two-dozen festivals internationally. Hulu commissioned their second film Ticks, which Filmmaker Magazine deemed “seductive and unnerving.” Their performance work has been presented by Under the Radar Festival, Museum of Sex, Joe’s Pub, Theatertreffen / Berliner Festspiele (Berlin), Goethe-Institut Beijing, and Dagesh Transitions Festival (Vienna). In development and upcoming: This Is My Favorite Song by Francesca D’Uva (production-Abrons), trans girl suicide museum (workshop-Mercury Store), and a new commissioned performance for Deutsches Theater’s ensemble, which will be absorbed into the company’s repertoire, in 2024. Scott Parkinson* (TWO) is excited to return to the stage with collaborators both new and old in The Gold Room. Scott is an award-winning actor who has appeared in many of literature’s most celebrated works, both On- and Off-Broadway and around the country, as well as a number of new plays, world premieres, and the national tour of The 39 Steps. Some of his roles include Hamlet, Aguecheek, Cassius, Richard II & Richard III, Iago, Mercutio, Angelo, Puck, Prior Walter, Tom Wingfield, Judge Brack, Treplev, Reverend Hale, and the Stage Manager in David Cromer’s landmark Off-Broadway production of Our Town. Theatre credits include The Coast of Utopia at Lincoln Center, Classic Stage Company, MCC, Chicago Shakespeare, Writers Theatre, the Goodman, Studio Theatre, Shakespeare Theatre Company, Seattle Rep, La Jolla Playhouse, The Old Globe, Hartford Stage, Cincinnati Playhouse, and the Mark Taper Forum. He is also a writer, director, audition coach, and has taught Shakespearean acting. In addition to his artistic pursuits, Scott currently manages the ISHTA Yoga studio near Union Square in Manhattan.
Jacob Perkins (Playwright) is a writer and performer from South Carolina. His plays include a triptych of texts titled Home Church Play (comprised of Home Church Play, Where Have You Gone, and Dad), The Dinosaurs, The Interview, The Gold Room, Restaurant in D Major, and The Third Rail. He’s presented and developed his work through Clubbed Thumb, Ars Nova, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Page 73 @ Yale, Soho Rep, Two Headed Rep, Studio Tisch @ NYU, Gibney Dance Center, Clemente Soto Velez Cultural Center, and the NEWvember Festival, among others. Perkins is the winner of Clubbed Thumb's 2020 Biennial Commission, recipient of the inaugural DVRF/O’Henry Productions Emerging Playwright Award, was shortlisted for multiple O’Neill Theater Center NPCs, received an Honorable Mention for the 2017 Relentless Award, and named a semifinalist for the 2018 Playwrights Realm Writing Fellowship and Bay Area Playwrights Festival. Emona Stoykova (Scenic Design) is a NYC based set designer for theater and live performance, with a special interest in new plays and adaptations. She holds an MFA in Set Design - Yale School of Drama, BA in Scenography - National Academy of Arts, Bulgaria and is a graduate of the National School of Fine Arts, Bulgaria. In Europe she’s collaborated with such storied directors as Alexander Morfov, Robert Wilson, Galin Stoev, and others. American credits include more than 20 shows such as An Enemy Of The People (Yale Repertory Theatre); She Talks to Beethoven, A Number, Girlfriend and The Seventeenth Chapel (A.R.T/NY); Coop (Paradise Factory); Ella in the Tundra (The Signature Theatre); Dead Man’s Cell Phone and Nothing is the End of the World (Stella Adler Studio); Old Friends That Just Met (Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute); The Hour of Great Mercy and Bulgaria! Revolt! (Yale Iseman Theatre). Emona is a founding member or KrymovLabNYC. She is recipient of the Donald and Zorka Oenslager Fellowship Award in Design, the McDougal Scholarship and the Ray Klausen Scholarship. Anne Troup (Producer) is an actor, director and producer based in New York. Her production company, Grover Knows Productions (GKP), focuses on emerging filmmakers and storytellers.
